Firefighters rescue 11 adorable ducklings from storm drain
Saved!
Snohomish County firefighters in Washington rescued 11 ducklings from a storm drain on Thursday.
Resident Amy Shieff called Fire District 1 headquarters after she spotted a duck circling the grate over a storm drain, then heard the ducklings, according to the fire department.
The ducklings had traveled between drains by the time firefighters arrived. The firefighters used a slow flow of water from their house to push the ducklings towards the next drain.
"Firefighters described it as a water slide for ducks," said Leslie Hynes, Fire District 1 spokeswoman.
Nearby neighbors helped retrieve the ducklings and return them all to their mother.
"The rescue was a group effort. The neighbors played a key role," Hynes said. "We are glad we could work with them to reunite the ducklings with their mother."
