Auto supplier with Tesla connections to start $9 million improvement project in Williamson County

The company, which has connections to Tesla, plans to make alterations to a warehouse, an office and a utility space.

HUTTO, Texas — A new renovation project is making its way to Williamson County.

Last week, a South Korean company called Seoyon E-hwa Manufacturing Plant registered for a privately funded tenant improvement project in Hutto.

The project should add improvements to a warehouse, office space and utility building, all of which take up approximately 230,841 square feet.

According to the filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration, renovations are set to begin May 31 and be completed by Aug. 31.

More about the company

For more than 50 years now, Seoyon E-Hwa has worked to manufacture parts for the inside and outside of motor vehicles. From bumpers to seats and panels, the company provides specialized pieces for major customers including Hyundai, Nissan, Ford, Honda, Isuzu and more.

According to the Austin Business Journal, Seoyon has also been responsible for the installation of pillars into Tesla Cybertrucks, totaling more than $227 million.

Not only that, but the company also spent more than $9 million to lease a plant in Mexico, where it would work alongside Tesla once again to manufacture parts.

Tesla complications

As of last month, the Austin Business Journal shared a list of top tech employers in the Austin area, with Tesla ranked number one.

However, earlier this week, the company announced its plans to lay off approximately 10% of its employees across the world, including some of those in the Austin area.

On Friday, Tesla also issued a recall for approximately 4,000 of its Cybertrucks because of problems with the accelerator pedals.

The improved facility will be located on Innovation Boulevard, not far from Texas State Technical College.
