Websites troll Cruz's presidential campaign

Ted Cruz is being trolled.

The GOP presidential hopeful would like supporters to click on TedCruz.org to find out more about his 2016 campaign.

But visitors to TedCruz.com will instead find a message urging support for President Obama and immigration — an issue where the Texas senator frequently clashes with the White House.

So you think Cruz's website should be TedCruzforAmerica.com? That directs you to the HealthCare.gov website, which is ironic since the Texas senator is a staunch opponent of Obama's health care law and wants it repealed.

Then there's TedCruz2016.com, which gets you to scenic photos. CNN reports the site is owned and operated by 92West, an Omaha digital marketing firm. Creative director Troy Kadavy said his client wants to meet Cruz.

TedCruz.com was created in 2004 by an Arizona-based real estate firm, according to The Hill. Ownership of the site switched last spring.

Another website, TedCruz.ca, is devoted to the fact that Cruz was born in Canada and is chock full of links to articles about whether he meets the U.S. Constitution's requirement that the president be a "natural born citizen." (Top legal scholars say yes, but that hasn't stopped Donald Trump from playing the birther card and saying this is a "hurdle" for Cruz.)

Meanwhile, Vox.com reported Cruz initially launched his campaign website without SSL or Secure Sockets Layer, the standard encryption that protects sensitive data — such as credit card information if you want to donate to his campaign. That problem has been fixed.
