Where you can get help after the Central Texas floods

As hundreds of people were evacuated from their homes due to flooding in Central Texas towns like Llano, Marble Falls and Kingsland, community members are already rallying together to provide relief.

CENTRAL TEXAS — As heavy rains fell across Central Texas Monday and Tuesday, water levels quickly rose to cause devastation and destruction.

Towns along the Llano and Colorado rivers such as Llano, Kingsland and Marble Falls were hugely impacted, with hundreds of people forced to evacuate their homes, leaving them behind in the flood waters' path.

The community is already rallying to help victims of the floods.

Hours later, the cities of Llano and Kingsland and H-E-B provided water and ice at First Baptist Church in Kingsland and Llano Junior High School, as some cities in the area were under a boil water notice.

The Red Cross will be hosting a service delivery site in Lakeway and Lago Vista. The Red Cross will be assisting with recovery planning, damage assessment, distribution of emergency supplies and crisis counseling.

Christina McDonald, Marble Falls city secretary, told KVUE that the city will be having two Multi-Agency Resource Centers that will offer services like clean-up kits, supplies and financial assistance to those who were affected by the floodings. These centers will have financial advisers and the opportunity to register the cases of affected citizens.

The citizens of Marble Falls will need to bring a form of identification that proves that they live there. These could be a driver's license, utility bills, or other kinds of valid proof.

Llano County officials are accepting monetary donations on behalf of people affected by flooding. You can also donate to the Central Texas Red Cross, which has been helping.

Citizens impacted by the food and are in need of assistance can visit one of the following collection locations from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.:

If you are looking to get debris removal, contact your City government. For instance, the City of Marble Falls will begin picking up debris in the Pecan Valley and Lakeshore areas. Please separate your brush debris from household refuse:

  1. Curbside Brush Pick Up - The City will be conducting curbside brush pick up. Please only place brush at the curb. REMINDER: The City brush drop off location at 1901 Colt Circle will be receiving brush from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
  2. Household Trash and Debris – Roll-off dumpsters will be placed throughout neighborhoods and areas inundated by Lake Marble Falls, in the Lakeshore and Pecan Valley areas. Please only place household trash and debris into the roll off dumpsters. Hazard materials including tires, paint, pesticides, chemicals, appliances, explosives, or propane cylinders cannot be accepted.
  3. Construction or Demolition Debris - Construction and demolition debris will need to be properly disposed of by the property owner. Please do not place construction debris into City provided roll-off containers.

The Catholic Charities of Central Texas also announced it has activated it's disaster response team to Llano, Mason, Kingsland, Horseshoe Bay, and Marble Falls. The team will reach out to emergency management officials in the area impacted determine where they can best fill gaps to help with basic needs, including food, clothing, and shelter.
