AUSTIN — ACL Fest has officially wrapped up, and if you didn't sit in traffic or walk to the festival, you may have used a dockless bike or scooter to get around.
Instead of people leaving them everywhere, scooter companies worked to create a safe way for people to drop them off before walking into the festival.
Here's how it works; just before getting to the front entrance of the festival, people had to drop off the dockless bikes or scooters at the designated locations. According to a map of the area, the main parking spot was on the corner of Toomey and Sterzing Roads.
Some people have called dockless mobility a safety hazard because sometimes the bikes and scooters are put in places where they shouldn't be. There was even more concern with ACL thrown in the mix. But -- the dockless companies said there was never any need to worry.
"Safety's first always; like we want the people safe. We want the city to love the scooters and not to think it's an endangerment to anyone, so it's a big deal," said Charles Bender, Operations Shift Lead for Lime Scooters.
Some people KVUE spoke to outside of the festival found them convenient and enjoyable.
"They're a lot of fun. It's a fun way to get around," said Kyler Zundel, who used the scooters to get to the festival with his friends.
"They're not cutting anybody off too much, and they're trying to be a little more lenient to pedestrian traffic and everything," said Zundel.
TxDOT will be compiling numbers in the coming days of any reported injuries during ACL related to dockless mobility and could not confirm whether or not any reports happened.
