AUSTIN — Residents in Southeast Travis County hoping to handle business at a tax office closer to their homes can finally do so.
The McKinney Falls Parkway tax office reopened Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 8 a.m.
Initially, the office was supposed to open Sept. 18, but officials pushed the date back due to a faulty air conditioning unit.

"The county’s facilities department is working diligently to fix the air conditioning problem," Bruce Elfant, the county’s tax assessor-collector, confirmed to KVUE Monday night.
The McKinney Falls Parkway tax office has been closed for four months after an investigation into fraudulent activity with license plates at two satellite locations. Several employees were arrested, and the county shut down all satellite locations and only kept the main office on Airport Boulevard open.
The Pflugerville satellite office was the first to reopen on July 24 after the investigation and subsequent arrests.
