ELGIN, Texas — Editor's Note: This story contains updated information about the crash from the Texas Highway patrol.

A fatal crash on Wednesday temporarily closed down Highway 290 east of Elgin, Texas, killing a man from Austin.

On Thursday, officials identified the deceased as 32-year-old Ahmed Zaidan Khazaal.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash, two miles west of McDade, involved three vehicles. A 2014 Dodge Ram towing a flatbed trailer westbound on US 290 was traveling at an unsafe speed due to weather conditions, while a 2007 Lexus IS250 and a 2016 Dodge Journey were traveling eastbound. As the Ram approached the Journey, DPS said the Ram lost control and traveled into the eastbound lane, striking the Lexus. The Journey then struck the flatbed trailer.

The driver of the Ram, a 27-year-old male from Corpus Christi, was transported to Dell Seton with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Journey, a 66-year-old male from Huntsville, was transported to St. David's Bastrop and is OK. The driver of the Lexus, Khazaal, died at the scene.

The road was expected to be closed for four hours with detours.
