@AustinFireInfo first tweeted about the fire around 6:20 a.m. It happened at the Argosy at Crestview Apartments on Justin Lane.

According to AFD, the fire was on two floors of the apartment building, but they were able to get it under control in 15 minutes.

@AustinFireInfo wrote that Austin-Travis County EMS took one person to the hospital for evaluation. Six people were displaced because of damage caused by the fire. The American Red Cross will be assisting them.

Fire officials later clarified that the one person was taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation.

Investigators ruled the fire was accidental due to improperly discarded smoking material, according to AFD. Two apartments were damaged by fire, fire control damaged another, and minor smoke damage occurred in seven apartments. The cost of fire damage was estimated at at total of $300,000.
