40K people join waitlist for Alamo Drafthouse Season Pass in hopes it goes nationwide

The Alamo Drafthouse announced they will be offering a "limited beta test" of an Alamo Season Pass in a limited number of cities and many individuals across the nation are interested.

Another option for unlimited movie theater tickets could soon be a possibility in Austin -- thanks to a Texas cinema staple.

The Alamo Drafthouse announced they will be offering a "limited beta test" of an Alamo Season Pass in a limited number of cities and many customers across the nation are interested.

According to Business Insider, 40,000 people have signed up to be on the season pass waiting list in hopes it goes nationwide.

The pass will allow moviegoers to watch unlimited movies at the Alamo Drafthouse and reserve and pick their seats in advance from their mobile app. For movie fanatics, this is a dream come true!

The subscription season pass price is between $15 and $20 a month for unlimited 2D and 3D movies and allows customers to go back to see the same movie as many times as they want, Business Insider reports.

Anyone still interested in this pass is encouraged to join the waitlist and sign up to be an Alamo Victory member -- the theater's free rewards program.

The first round of invites was sent out July 18 to Alamo Victory members in Yonkers, New York. Alamo Drafthouse said they will determine the next set of "test" cities after reviewing the signups on the waitlist.

So how does this movie pass work?

According to Alamo Drafthouse, each week people from the waitlist will be invited to purchase an Alamo Season Pass.

"The price and other features of the season pass will be detailed on your invitation," Alamo Drafthouse said. "Once you receive your invitation, you’ll have two weeks to decide if you want to purchase your pass. If you decide not to, your place in line will be given to someone else."
