Ohio State scandal not a distraction for Texas Longhorns, players say

Texas head coach Tom Herman was accused of tipping off a former ESPN reporter about the Ohio State scandal involving Zach Smith and his wife, Courtney Smith.

AUSTIN — Amid rumors that Texas' head coach is tied to the Ohio State scandal, this has been an active preseason for college football.

Jeff Snook, an Ohio State reporter, said on Aug. 11 that University of Texas football coach Tom Herman was the source in a story that broke about the alleged abusive relationship between former Ohio State coach Zach Smith and his wife, Courtney Smith. Herman formerly coached at Ohio State under Urban Meyer from 2012 to 2014.
