Amazon's website crashed on biggest shopping day of the year: Prime Day

The first day of Amazon Prime Day did not kick off without a few setbacks.

Austin — For some, Amazon's biggest shopping day of the year didn't turn out as planned and customers lit up social media after the website crashed on day one of Prime Day.

#Prime Day trended on Twitter on Monday. Prime members like Andrew Khan wrote, "Dear Amazon, while we love seeing cute dogs on your page, we'd much rather take advantage of #PrimeDay. In a tweet, Amazon wrote in part, "Some customers are having difficulty shopping, and we're working to resolve this issue quickly. Many are shopping successfully - in the first hour of Prime Day in the U.S., customers have ordered more items compared to the first hour of last year. There are hundreds of thousands of deals to come..."
