Man dies in North Austin auto-pedestrian crash, APD says

According to EMS officials, the man suffered critical life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at 9:38 p.m.

AUSTIN, Texas — A man died Friday evening after he was struck in an auto-pedestrian crash, police said.

Austin-Travis County EMS said it received the call about the crash at 9:05 p.m. Medics responded to the 800 block of Rutland Drive and performed CPR on the man while they took him to Dell Seton Medical Center, EMS said. He was pronounced dead at 9:38 p.m.

Preliminary investigation shows that a silver 1997 Toyota 4Runner was traveling westbound in the outside lane of traffic when a pedestrian, identified as 58-year-old Troy Dean Fisher, attempting to cross Rutland Drive was struck. He was not in a crosswalk, police said.
