JOHNSON CITY, Texas -- Several months after Johnson City's police chief was suspended due to a "personnel issue," a new police chief has been sworn in, the police department said.

Since Nov. 9, 2017, Police Chief Randy Holland has been suspended. On June 14, Johnson City Police Department announced that Ross Allen was sworn in.

Allen, who comes from Round Rock, brings 15 years of law enforcement experience to his new job, JCPD said. He started his career as a jailer, then a patrol deputy at the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. He was a captain for Johnson City before he worked for both the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army as patrol supervisor in northern California.

He was selected by the city council on May 1, the police department said.
