Man killed wife in Round Rock storage unit when she refused to get back together, police say

Officers took into custody a man who claims to be involved and related to the person.

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- A friend of the man who allegedly stabbed his estranged wife to death in a Round Rock storage unit Monday reported the incident to police after the man confided in him about what allegedly happened, an affidavit obtained by KVUE Wednesday revealed.

At 10:38 a.m. Monday, police officers responded to the Life Storage facility located at 506 McNeil Road after a man said his friend had stabbed his estranged wife there. Jose Villasenor Diaz, 44, the woman's husband, had a storage unit at the location, according to the affidavit.

The friend who called police met with officers at a nearby 7-Eleven. The friend told officers that Diaz said that he had killed Dora Quiroz-Gonzalez, 41, and that she was in his storage unit. Officers who responded to the storage facility unlocked the storage unit that Diaz allegedly owns and found Quiroz-Gonzalez with stab wounds to her stomach.

Diaz agreed to go to the police department and talk about what happened, the affidavit said.

Diaz allegedly told officers that he picked up Quiroz-Gonzalez from her place of work after asking her if she wanted to get breakfast with him. The affidavit said Diaz "chose to take her to the storage unit" where they have personal property stored. Diaz told officers he spoke with her about "getting back together, because he had been living in the car for the last two months," the affidavit said.

The affidavit said she told Diaz she did not want to get back together with him, which angered him. He then allegedly stabbed her four to five times in the stomach and twice in the neck. He then left her body in the storage unit and left, police said.

He told officers he threw the knife in a dumpster located at 1801 East Palm Valley, police said. Officers later found that knife, the affidavit said.

Diaz has been charged with murder and was booked into the Williamson County Jail.
