Forecast: Turning up the heat this weekend, even hotter next week

Here are the latest updates from the KVUE Weather Team.

AUSTIN, Texas — Good Saturday morning Austinites! If you have been missing the sunshine after so many weekends of rain, then we have the perfect forecast for you over the next 48 hours.

To begin the day, we have a Dense Fog Advisory impacting Fayette County on Saturday morning, with patchy dense fog expected to form east of Interstate 35 ahead of 10 a.m. Also, there is an Air Quality Alert in effect for counties along and east of the I-35 corridor due to favorable atmospheric conditions for high ozone levels. As of 7 a.m., the Travis County AQI (Air Quality Index) is in the moderate category.

It is expected to be quite hot and very sunny this weekend. High temperatures will rise into the lower to mid-90s throughout this weekend and gain a few degrees as we head into next week. Dew points should be low enough this weekend for our heat index or "feels-like" temperatures to stay in the mid- to upper 90s.

The UV index will also be in the high to very high category, so make sure you are taking proper precautions from too much sun exposure. Heat and humidity trend upwards as we head through the first half of the upcoming week, leading to "feels-like" temperatures in the triple digits by Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain chances also increase to 20% to 30% by midweek.

SATURDAY:
Sunny and hot. Southwest wind at 5 to 10 mph.
HIGH: 94

SATURDAY NIGHT:
Mostly clear. Patchy fog late. South wind at 5 to 10 mph.
LOW: 70

SEVEN-DAY FORECAST:

Hot and sunny this weekend. More humid next week.
