$1M Mega Millions ticket sold in Austin goes unclaimed after expiration date

The million-dollar lottery ticket that was sold in Austin was never claimed.

AUSTIN -- A million-dollar lottery ticket sold in Austin was never claimed, the Texas Lottery Commission said.

The $1 million Mega Millions Quick Pick ticket matching five of the six numbers drawn for the Dec. 1, 2017, drawing was purchased from Valero Corner Store #1307 at 4600 W. William Cannon Drive. The winning numbers were 16-22-40-41-59, Mega Ball 8. No one ever claimed the ticket, which expired May 30 at 5 p.m.

"We did not have a claimant present the apparent winning ticket in any of our claim centers (Wednesday)," said Kelly Cripe, director of media relations for the Texas Lottery Commission.

Unclaimed prizes go back to the state for programs authorized by the Texas Legislature.
