Austin police officer suspended following third crash on duty, officials say

According to police, the officer's suspension will be from May 29 to May 30.

AUSTIN — An Austin police officer will be suspended for two days following her third preventable accident while driving a city vehicle, according to the police department.

According to a memorandum sent from Interim Police Chief Brian Manley, officer Angela Racine-Johnson was on duty when she was involved in a crash in the 5200 block of East Cesar Chavez on April 13. Manley said this was her third preventable crash within the past three years.

According to APD, Racine-Johnson accepted full responsibility for the preventable crash. She has been notified that these preventable crashes must end or she will be subject to further disciplinary action, officials said.

The memo stated Racine-Johnson's suspension will begin on May 29 and continue through May 30.
