AUSTIN — It's all over for the University of Texas Baseball team at the Big 12 tournament in Oklahoma City.

Longhorns baseball coach David Pierce was ejected in the sixth inning for arguing balls and strikes, and his team was eliminated from the Big 12 tournament, losing 3-1 to the University of Oklahoma.

Thursday’s loss removes any hope for the Longhorns to capture the Big 12 conference tournament championship, despite being named the regular season conference champs.

Pierce was unhappy when a 3-2 pitch with two outs in the top of the sixth was called a ball, walking the batter and loading the bases for the Sooners. He was immediately ejected by the home plate umpire after yelling from the dugout.

Former Texas A&M Quarterback Kyler Murray got things started for Oklahoma with an RBI single in the first inning. Murray was hurt while running the bases and pulled from the game at the end of the inning. Murray, now an OU quarterback, will probably be drafted by a major league baseball team next month and will have a decision to make about going pro or staying in college.

Texas starter Nolan Kingham gave up all three runs, including a third-inning home run by Blake Brewster of the Sooners.

The tournament seemed to be a tough one for UT.

The 12th ranked Longhorns started off on the wrong foot after losing to Kansas 3-2 Wednesday.

Texas will now wait for the NCAA playoff announcement on Monday. Because the Longhorns are a top 20 team, they will get an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament and will likely host a regional.
