Forecast: Scattered strong storms Friday; higher storm chance Sunday morning

Here are the latest updates from the KVUE Weather Team.

AUSTIN, Texas — Friday morning will begin with another round of low clouds and patchy drizzle or light rain showers. Through the day, there will be scattered showers and storms, with a low end risk one or two of those storms could be severe. Not everybody will see stormy weather with the overall storm chance at approximately 40-50%. The main rain and storm timeframe is between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. with a few lingering showers possible for late afternoon.

We will get a break from any stormy weather Saturday. Morning clouds will give way to a partly cloudy, very warm and windy afternoon. Highs will be in the mid-to-upper 80s and wind gusts could get as high as 45 mph in certain spots.

A round of rain and storms will then move into the Hill Country late Saturday night through early Sunday morning. These storms will likely weaken as they move eastward, but we currently expect about a 70% coverage of rain and storms Sunday. These storms will have slightly higher severe weather potential, especially west of I-35. The main concerns will be large hail, damaging wind and isolated tornadoes.

The forecast stays warm, humid, and unsettled through all of next week with daily scattered rain chances.
