LA County murder suspect in custody after SWAT called to Pflugerville home

A wanted murder suspect from Los Angeles County, California was taken into custody after barricading himself in a Pflugerville home, according to officials.

PFLUGERVILLE — A wanted murder suspect from Los Angeles County, California, was taken into custody Saturday after barricading himself in a Pflugerville home, according to officials.

The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force along with the Travis County Sheriff's Office and the Austin Police Department SWAT team was called out to the Pflugerville residence Saturday morning regarding a "barricaded subject," police said in initial reports.

The suspect, later identified as Kevin Dickson, 55, is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend in Los Angeles County, California. According to the U.S. Marshal Service, it happened on April 18.

A next-door neighbor said officers surrounded the home Saturday morning and asked Dickson several times to come out.

"Police were on the megaphone telling the person inside that he needed to come out with his hands up and nothing in his hands and they kept broadcasting that for quite some time," said Gary Partridge, who lives next door.

Partridge said he and several neighbors nearby were asked to evacuate.

Police said Dickson was taken into custody after a brief struggle, and no one was injured in the incident.

Dickson will be booked into the Travis County Jail before he is extradited back to California.
