UT police increasing patrols after student says he was sexually assaulted in restroom

A University of Texas student was allegedly assaulted while he was using the restroom.

AUSTIN — The University of Texas Police is actively investigating a sexual assault incident that was reported at a restroom in Bellmont Hall Wednesday night.

According to officials, a male student told police that at around 8:15 p.m., he was using the restroom when a strange man entered the room and sexually assaulted him.

The student described his attacker as a white man who was possibly wearing glasses, according to police. The student said the man was dressed in tan pants and brown or gray hiking boots. The student added that he believes the suspect is older than a teenager.

As a result of the assault report, UT police said they will increase patrols in the area.

Police ask anyone who might have seen a person matching the suspect's description in the area to dial 911.
