AUSTIN — Police have identified the 33-year-old man who died after a vehicle struck him while he was walking near Interstate 35 and Slaughter Lane early Wednesday morning.
Afshin Andrew Sustaita was struck at 1:15 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the 8900 block of South I-35 after he tried to cross the roadway, police said.
He was struck by a blue Nissan Altima that was traveling in the outside lane of traffic, according to police. Sustaita was taken to a hospital where he died.
