After a package exploded at a FedEx facility in Schertz, Texas Tuesday morning, there have been rumors swirling that there were a total of two suspicious packages found at the facility there.
The confusion started when San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said hours after the Shertz explosion that there was a second suspicious package at the facility. The San Antonio Police Department later said McManus misspoke.
"There is no secondary device at the Schertz facility," the department said.
FedEx added more confusion with a statement that read in part, "FedEx has confirmed that a package detonated at a San Antonio FedEx Ground facility early this morning. We have also confirmed that the individual responsible also shipped a second package that has now been secured and turned over to law enforcement."
KVUE reached out directly to the FBI.
Special Agent Michelle Lee said the following:
- FedEx advised the FBI that they had two suspicious packages Tuesday at two different locations
- One suspicious package was reported in Schertz and exploded on a conveyer belt
- The second suspicious package was at the McKinney Falls Parkway FedEx facility in Austin. Lee said this suspicious package is only being characterized as a "suspicious package"
- The FBI is not able to confirm if they have yet detonated the second suspicious package
KVUE has reached out to authorities to determine if there is a connection between the two suspicious packages that were found.
