Police searching for white car in connection to man’s shooting death

Austin police are searching for a white car, possibly a Honda, in connection to a 22-year-old man's death.

Austin police are searching for a white car in connection to the March 16 shooting death of a 22-year-old man.

Police said they responded to a call at 5:30 a.m. for an argument that escalated and ended with a person being shot in the 2200 block of South 5th Street just north of Oltorf Street. When police arrived, they found Matthew Aguirre, 22, lying in the street "with obvious trauma to his body."

Aguirre was taken to a hospital where he died at 6:04 a.m.

After authorities spoke with witnesses, police said it appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat ot the public regarding this incident.

Police are searching for a white car, possibly a Honda with paper plates, in connection to Aguirre's death. Police said a black man was driving the vehicle and that two women may have been in the vehicle with the man. Police said they are concerned the occupants of the vehicle could have been struck by gunfire.
