One of Texas' 10 Most Wanted was captured Tuesday in Colorado.
26-year-old Dakota Marcus Stewart is considered a high-risk sex offender and was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Stewart was convicted in 2009 for aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by exposure involving two young girls in Tarrant County. He had been wanted since August of 2017 for failing to register as a sex offender in Tarrant and Dallas counties.
Stewart was apprehended in Florissant, Col., by members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force -- District of Colorado. His arrest was the result of a multi-agency investigation involving Texas DPS Special Agents and members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force.
