What you need to know about the ABC Kite Festival

The Austin Parks and Recreation Department is hosting their 2018 ABC Zilker Kite Festival and Moss Fest on Sunday March 4.

The Austin Parks and Recreation Department is hosting their 2018 ABC Zilker Kite Festival and Moss Fest on Sunday, March 4 at Zilker Park.

The smoke-free event will take place on 46-acres of land, and attendees should expect to see a high volume of people, event organizers said.

The event runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and organizers say you should drink plenty of water and bring sunscreen for the event.

Organizers added they scheduled a backup day for March 11 to account for the possibility of rain.

According to KVUE's Chief Meteorologist Albert Ramon, there's a 40 percent chance of showers and storms on Sunday. While he doesn't think it will be a washout, he said there's a possibility it will be postponed.
