On Wednesday morning, a Smithville man died after a crash two miles west of Rockne, Texas, police said.
The victim was identified as Gabriel Jose Cantu, 20, who was traveling westbound on FM 535, when he entered the westbound ditch and struck a tree head-on with his vehicle. DPS dispatch was notified around 5:36 a.m. Feb. 14, and Cantu was pronounced dead at St. Davids hospital in South Austin.
