Flames.

A "lucky" moment saved the lives of an Austin couple while their home was being destroyed by a fire, officials told KVUE.

The Austin Fire Department said the fire broke out at 3:15 a.m. at 8205 Shenandoah Drive near Rutherford Lane and Interstate 35 in northeast Austin.

The fire started in the attic of the home near the wire for the door bell, which caused the doorbell to ring, AFD said. AFD said the couple awoke to that sound because there were no smoking alarms in the house.

AFD told KVUE the couple is "lucky" they were able to make it out of the home.

No injuries were reported in the fire, but the couple was displaced.
