Photo of injured military dog with purple heart goes viral

After a military working dog and his handler were injured while on duty in Afghanistan, the pair are recovering together in the same room at Walter Reed Military Medical Center.

A photo of canine Rocky recuperating with a purple heart, that was posted Dec. 9, has gone viral with 98,856 likes and 130,118 shares to date.

Rocky, a military working dog, was injured during operations in Afghanistan.

The canine is expected to return to Fort Hood in the coming weeks, according to 89th Military Police Brigade. They had "suffered from an IED blast."
